WHAT  TO  DO ?

Mountain Biking & Road Cycling

This area is very suitable for both road cycling and mountain biking. You can opt to bring your own bike (as special luggage on the plane) or alternatively there are places where you can rent these bikes. We are happy to point you in the right direction.

We have multiple routes available for you to enjoy both road cycling and off road cycling. You will be amazed by the beautiful and varied countryside on offer with amazing views whenever you turn a corner !

You can come and cycle for pure enjoyment and as an excellent way to enjoy the local area or you may want to train to keep up fitness during the winter months when it is more difficult to do so back home......  Cycling is a very popular sport in Andalucia and Coín boasts several cycling events each year...

Hiking and Bird Watching

Coín has excellent hiking possibilities in the area. We have a  beautiful pine forest nature reserve on the south side of Coín, where you can do short trails or hikes of 4-5 hours. You can explore the beautiful small turqoise lagoons of Barranco Blanco and discover the fantastic views on top of Sierra de Águila.

On the northside you will find the river valleys with the Río Grande being the main river, providing water to the surrounding farmland and a wealth of bird life. You will spot egrets, herons, bee-eaters, hoopoe's, blackwinged stilts, harriers and eagles and in the winter months black stork !

For the more experienced hiker, you can also take a short bus ride to the Sierra de las Nieves (next village) where you will find endless options....

We have maps available and routes ready for you to explore and some of the local routes are signposted in the countryside.

Other Activities & Sights

We are ideally located to undertake any further sightseeing in Andalucia. The beautiful city of Málaga is only a 30 minute drive away - it offers a great cathedral, remnants of a Roman theatre,  the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro fortresses and of course the Picasso and Thyssen museums. Málaga is also excellent for shopping, enjoying exquisite meals and it also offers a brand new port area and surrounding beaches.

Another main destination is Ronda, famous for its unique location on top of a rock face with the 'El Tajo' bridge over a deep gorge joining 'old and new'. Ronda also features the oldest bull ring of Spain with an interesting bull fighting museum attached and also one of the oldest Royal Riding schools of the country.

Other destinations such as Granada, Antequera and Córdoba are within a reasonable driving distance.
